Hearths Mod (1.21.10, 1.20.1) – A Netherworld Transformation

The Nether has always felt like a dangerous but somewhat empty dimension — vast open caverns of netherrack with pockets of fungal forests scattered between. Hearths Mod changes that entirely by reshaping familiar Nether biomes into dense, atmospheric environments filled with new geological formations, overgrown structures, and towering landmarks worth exploring. With over 4.3 million downloads since its 2023 release, it has quickly become one of the most popular Nether overhaul mods in the Minecraft community.

Key Features

  • Nether Wastes Overhaul — The once barren desert-like biome is transformed into a hostile cave-like environment complete with netherrack stalactites, stalagmites, and magma "lakes" that give the terrain a far more threatening atmosphere.
  • Revamped Crimson & Warped Forests — Both fungal biomes receive blackstone rock formations, fallen fungus stems scattered across the ground, and a unique sprawling huge fungus variant that makes the forests feel genuinely overgrown and wild.
  • Crimson & Warped Towers — Tall new structures generate in their respective forest biomes, housing loot and mob spawns for resource gathering. They also serve as vertical corridors, helping players ascend to higher Nether levels without building pillar towers.

FAQ

Does Hearths Mod work with other Nether mods?

Hearths Mod modifies the terrain generation of Nether Wastes, Crimson Forest, and Warped Forest biomes. Mods that also alter these specific biomes may cause conflicts, but mods targeting other Nether biomes or adding new dimensions should generally work alongside it.

Can I add Hearths Mod to an existing world?

Yes, but the new terrain features and towers will only generate in newly explored Nether chunks. Areas you have already visited will remain unchanged since Minecraft does not regenerate previously loaded chunks.

What are the Crimson and Warped Towers used for?

These tall structures spawn in Crimson and Warped Forest biomes respectively. They contain loot and mob spawns for resource gathering, and they also function as vertical pathways that help you reach higher elevations in the Nether without needing to build your own pillars.
