Roughly Enough Professions Mod (1.21.11) – Additional Feature for REI

Available for:FabricForgeNeoForge

Ever struggled to figure out which workstation a villager needs to pick up a specific profession? Roughly Enough Professions Mod solves that problem by extending Roughly Enough Items (REI) with a dedicated profession lookup system. Simply press a hotkey on an emerald or villager spawn egg, and you get a clean overview of every villager profession and the workstation it requires — including professions added by other mods.

Key Features

  • Profession Browser via REI — Press the Uses key (default: U) on an emerald or villager spawn egg to open a full list of all available villager professions in your modpack.
  • Workstation Mapping — Each profession entry shows exactly which worktable or block is required, so you never have to guess or look it up on a wiki.
  • Mod Source Identification — Hold Shift on any profession to reveal which mod added it — especially useful in large modpacks with custom villager roles.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Integrates directly into the REI interface — no extra menus or keybinds to learn
  • Identifies which mod added each profession, making modpack debugging much easier
  • Supports all three major mod loaders: Forge, Fabric, and NeoForge
  • Appears to be lightweight since it only extends existing REI functionality

Cons

  • Requires Roughly Enough Items — not a standalone mod
  • Limited to profession and workstation info; does not show trade tables or villager leveling details
  • Not compatible with JEI or EMI — strictly an REI add-on

FAQ

Does Roughly Enough Professions work without REI?

No. This mod is an add-on that extends Roughly Enough Items (REI). You must have REI installed for Roughly Enough Professions to function.

How do I see which mod added a villager profession?

Open the profession list by pressing U on an emerald or villager spawn egg in REI, then hold Shift. The mod ID will appear before each profession name.

Can I use this mod on a multiplayer server?

Since this mod extends REI, which is primarily a client-side recipe viewer, it should work on the client side without requiring server installation. However, always check your specific modpack configuration for compatibility.
