SwingThrough Mod (1.21.1, 1.20.1) – Smart Entity Targeting

Available for:FabricNeoForgeQuilt

Ever swung your sword at a zombie only to accidentally break the tall grass in front of it? SwingThrough Mod solves one of Minecraft's most quietly frustrating combat issues — it lets you target and attack living entities through transparent blocks like grass, crops, and flowers. With over 3.8 million downloads on Modrinth, this lightweight utility mod by sisby-folk has clearly struck a chord with players who want their hits to actually land where they intend.

Key Features

  • Attack through transparent blocks — Swing at mobs through grass, flowers, crops, and other non-collision blocks without breaking them first.
  • Smart targeting logic — The mod only activates when the block has no collision, the entity is living and attackable, and you are not riding it. In Minecraft 1.21, it also respects your exact interaction range.
  • Minimal code footprint — Built with a single mixin containing roughly four lines of essential code. No additional raycasts or radius searches are performed, so the mod appears to be extremely lightweight.
  • Full interaction support — Works for both attacking and interacting with entities, not just combat swings.

FAQ

Does SwingThrough Mod work with Forge?

SwingThrough does not have a traditional Forge version. However, NeoForge is supported for Minecraft 1.20.6 and 1.21.1. Older versions (1.16.5–1.19.2) are available for Fabric and Quilt only.

Will this mod affect my game performance?

SwingThrough appears to be very lightweight. It uses a single mixin with about four lines of core code and performs no additional raycasts or radius searches beyond what vanilla Minecraft already does.

Which blocks can I swing through with this mod?

You can attack and interact with entities through any block that has no collision box — this includes tall grass, flowers, crops, saplings, and similar transparent blocks. The mod checks collision automatically, so there is nothing to configure.
